He is committed to creating films that make a difference, and is gifted in his ability to capture both intense and subtle emotions. For Dan, these skills combine with a genuine commitment to excellence and a very flexible approach to filmmaking. The results are powerful films that create a visceral response among viewers.”

Dan O’Toole, President of Group Two, has been a commercial photographer, a photojournalist, and Peace Corps volunteer in addition to producing over 300 video programs.

Dan started Group Two in 1980 to produce multi-image corporate and institutional programs. The company eventually evolved into a full-service documentary production company, producing programs for organizations such as SmithKline Beecham, Westinghouse Defense, Black & Decker, Peterson, Howell & Heather, Fleet Management, The Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, T. Rowe Price, The National Aquarium in Baltimore, The Rouse Company, The SIDS Institute, and many others. Some of these shows combined live entertainment with multi-image presentations and large staging requirements.

In the early 90s Dan went solo, focusing exclusively on the production of documentaries. He produces programs for schools, colleges, corporations and nonprofit organizations. Subjects have included mental health, human behavior, business, financial development, child abuse, teaching and counseling skills, agriculture, welfare reform, enrollment, banking, social reform, marketing … all areas of human endeavor.

Dan’s documentary "A Family in Grief: The Ameche Story," about the experience of a family that lost a son in an auto accident, won several awards, including the CINE Golden Eagle from the Council on International Non-Theatrical Events. Another documentary, "A Plea for Justice," concerning women who had killed abusive partners, is credited with playing a part in the release from prison of 25 women in Ohio and 13 in Maryland, as well as effecting change in Maryland legislation. This film also won the CINE Golden Eagle and a Silver CINDY Award.

Dan lives and works on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, where he draws inspiration from the peaceful rhythm of life on the water.
